well, back safe and sound from stuarts draft. we arrived this afternoon. my sleep schedule is a bit awry because of working some days and some nights and with the craziest schedule yet coming this week, i'm going to be fried by thursday night. i took a few hour nap today and brad woke me up at 745 for a concert....i was sleeping so hard i thought it was sunday already.
the trip was relatively boring....i was working after all. it was a great change of pace and i met some nice people. the colors in the mountains are going to be gorgeous in a couple of weeks, so i might try to convince brad to take a trip back up there.
i have a horrid toothache that is making life a tad miserable right now. it's because two of my teeth have a small space in between them and food can get in there. i floss to get it out, but the dentist says that even that can't keep it 100%. i go back in a couple of weeks to get 2 crowns replaced on those teeth to close up the small gap. he says if it heals and i don't have any more trouble, that is what's causing my pain. (it comes and goes...hurts for several days and then heals for a couple of weeks and then comes back). if it doesn't heal after he replaces them, then it's something else and the tooth might have to come out. he can't tell on the xray if there is a fracture...it sounds like that's probably not it since it heals and comes back and it's a constant long term thing. this last couple of days, it has been pretty bad. i have taken way more motrin then the bottle told me (did you know it tells you to only take 1 200mg first and then a 2nd if that doesn't work -- are they crazy? 1 motrin? that's like putting a piece of tape on a gash to keep it closed up..not even remotely enough...anyway), but since the doctor allowed me to take relatively high doses when i played softball, i figure i can handle the 800mg a couple times a day. tonight i switched to excedrin for 1 round for the pain to give my body a break from the motrin. it doesn't give my stomach trouble, but i don't want to take too much of anything.
i was on a tylenol only groove..in prep for someday maybe getting pregnant (but tylenol hasn't come close to hitting this pain and I think it's big time inflammed)...been slowly trying to switch things to safer items so when we do decide to get pregnant, that way I am already in the groove..I already switched my unsafe allergy medicine over--everything i'm on for my asthma and allergies i can now stay on. maybe at this pace, we'll have a baby by the time we're 40 :-) just kidding, mom. :-)
i'm truly pissed about the marion jones debacle...i really loved to watch her run. i have a picture of her inside my medicine cabinet that i have had for several years ... it says...the only thing stopping me is me...boy that's ironic. i also have a poster of her i used to hang in my office. guess i'll be rolling that one up for the donation pile. i can be sympathetic to the drug use...really i can...i don't think the rules have always been enforced and with it so wide-spread, i wouldn't be surprised if every single athlete has done them at some point. however, it's the lying that pisses me off...don't steadfast deny it...that sucks...i'm bummed about that
tonight, we went to a heavy metal concert....there's just something about those heavy metal guitars that makes life fun. as i looked around and saw the crowd of people (a crowd that most of my friends and family wouldn't associate me with) it made me appreciate the diversity of things that i enjoy in life. i love music, most people know that about me, but the range is great...i can be listening to classical mozart, jazz, some country (not the really twangy kind}, pop, disco, classic rock, dance, grunge, modern rock (and the huge range of artists that entails), some hip hop, some rap, heavy metal. Just about everything....I only discriminate against super twangy country and the hiphop that talks horribly about women or that say the F word or N word 300 times during the songs...Not something I will tolerate or condone with my buying power. people sometimes who hear the list of artists i have seen or wish to see in concert laugh...each genre serves a purpose for me...a mood i'm in, or wish to be in or just the mental state i'm in. somedays i LOVE to listen to a heavy metal guitar and some days i just can't handle 1 chord of it...just depends how i'm feeling.
tonight on the way to the concert, we were listening to some of their music..my pre-concert pump up -- a ritual i have...listen to them all week and all the way there...brad says you're not supposed to listen to the band until you get there....i disagree :-) ...anyway, i was saying to brad that the guitar ont he cd just wasn't the same as the live...and it turned out great..this was definitely not the place to be if you are not a guitar fan. i'm of course not a mosh pit participant...they freak me out a little bit....i'm very paranoid about being trampled {being trampled is a spin-off of my biggest fear in life (drowning)...it has to do with being trapped and not being able to get out} and when the crowd starts bouncing off each other, i have a mini anxiety attack...i like to be close enough to watch those people have their own breed of fun, but not close enough to get shoved around. funny....in a couple of weeks, i'll be seeing elliott yamin (from american idol--he's from richmond and i loved him on the show) at the same place and he's almost as far away from the kind of music we listened to tonight...funny...i love diversity.
i think i might start making a list of everyone i've seen and wish to see...that would be cool. i'm staring to lose track of all of the concerts i have been to. good thing i save most of my tickets.
oh, and sammy is doing great - had a check up this past week and after he finishes his medicine out this week, he should be good to go...he's even gained back the weight he lost from not eating for several days. speaking of sammy, if you haven't seen the show on animal planet called meerkat manor, you have to check it out. i saw it last night for the first time...sammy has got to be 1/2 meerkat...he stands up like them and does a prancing run like them....and he digs like them....and he lays around like them...and he loves the sun, so i think he could live with them. i just kept laughing...checkout the picture of the one on the home page standing up...sammy looks like him.
