Ichabad

Grandpa has a frog in his pond named Ichabad...cute...Here are some pics from when we were in Iowa. I LOVE Grandpa's backyard. It has so many beautiful flowers and plants and he has a vegetable garden, too. The pond is so great, the rocks, his decorations...it's just great! I hijacked part of a peony plant (actually Grandma did). He brought me one last year, but it didn't do that well, showed itself for a moment, but then went away...thinking maybe it didn't get enough sun, because Grandpa's are in full sun and looked good. Guess on that one, I'll dig it up and move it...maybe it will do better next year!

We should be greeted by Ian soon!

Jessica had a doctor's appointment today. She is dialated and if she doesn't go into labor they will induce her at the end of the week! Here is a pic from when we were back a couple of weeks ago.

This week: Where's Ian, no puppies please and bacon grease

As I look forward to 1.5 days off...I have a meeting to go to on Wednesday at work....I think about what's going on here...Well, I second Hunter's comment on Tiff's blog..When IS baby Ian coming out? I can't wait to meet him. Jessica is very ready to deliver.

Tomorrow, I have to take Sammy to be neutered..sniff, sniff...does anyone ever look forward to sending their baby under the knife? He also has some teeth that need to come out..apparently, some small dogs don't lose all of their baby teeth and they have to be taken out. He has like 100 teeth in that little mouth of his...wish him luck...I don't want to do it, but I don't need any puppy mommies calling me to say their dog had a litter of Chihuahua-like puppies!

Lemon Wife Part 2...Or maybe this time it's Klutzy Wife...While taking a pan of bacon out of the oven on Sat night, I spilled bacon grease on my left hand..Just for the record, it hurts like HELL! Although I've never been to hell, I can now imagine what it feels like to be there. We hustled over to urgent care (one that is more like an ER) and got treated...bawling my head off while trying to relay my personal information to the nurses...it ended up not blistering, thank goodness. Just for the record...if you ever burn your hand, foot, etc. run it under water and fill up a pan with cold water...put the hand/foot in the water for 40-45 mintues (swishing it around in the water makes it hurt less) and take it to the ER in the pan of water. They had me do a pan of water for 45 minutes and then they treated it with creme and bandaged me up...and sent me home with my happy prescription of vicodin. So unfortunately, I am now an expert on how to handle burns quickly and appropriately so not to get blisters. Today I took the bandage off and except for a little tenderness, it appears to be as good as new!

I keep joking Dad that I am trying to "one-up" his knee injury with 2 medical issues in 2 weeks that required narcotic pain killers! I'd really like to think I'm done doing that now..P.S. My root canal of my bad tooth went very well...In any case, I'm hoping I'm done with the medical issues that cause 8s and 10s on the pain scale for a while!

How we say "adios" to the Clarks

Tim, Shannen and Courtney moved to Minneapolis last week. We had a "going away beating" for them. :-) Tim is a Sponge Bob fan and we found this pinata and filled it with candy. I'm sure the neighbor's thought we were crazy.

We all take a swing....

Brad's 2nd wack lands SpongeBob's legs in the tree!

I think this was Tim's 2nd wack
Shannen gives him a makeover
1 more....................
Courtney continues to beat him after he's down!

Picking Jolly Ranchers & Smarties out of the mulch is fun!

Happenings

My cousin Brenda joined the blog world this week. I added her family to our links.

We are also dog sitting this week for one of Tiff's friends. Molly the "weiner dog" has been over to play with Sammy before, but this week it's a sleepover! They have been getting along great and even are sharing toys. We got a few pictures that we'll get posted this weekend.

What else is going on...hmmmmm.....I went back to the foot doc for the bump on my heel..still just extra bone...says not to worry about it unless it causes problems. I just have to stretch my calf muscles so that my achilles doesn't shorten and tighten up. When the bump rubs on shoes, I have these gel pads to put in my shoes to move my heel so that the bumps doesn't rub....Where do I get these issues?

Brad went to the doctor for his last LASIK check up..Has better than 20/20 vision in one eye and is doing great...of course, I fall apart and he gets better than perfect vision!

Our conveyor system went live at work and it was a lot of work Sunday and Monday running around...I am still exhausted even though I had Tues and Wed off.The 1 nice thing about this schedule is that I only ever have to work 3 says in a row.

Catching up on birthday and Father's Day cards that I didn't get out when we were in Iowa.

Dad went back to the doctor for his knee and appears to be right on schedule with his healing...getting around better, too.

...been a pretty normal week.

Happy Father's Day

I'm a little late -- had to work yesterday...Will be on my way there in a little bit. Will be late with the cards this year since we were out of state during last week. Better late than never, right?

Bitter sweet week

We just returned from Iowa where we were since Monday. Brad's Grandpa Dellit passed away last Saturday. It was sad of course, but he has been quite ill for a few years and was not doing well in recent months. Thanks for the phone calls and thoughts...we really appreciate it.

We did get to see a few family members we haven't seen in quite a while. We also visited my grandparents, my parents, and had a (very) short visit with Jordan & Becky last night. Dad Dellit is hanging in there and looking forward to our trip to NYC and my dad is doing a little better. It was nice to be able to visit him after his surgery on Monday and then at home yesterday. He's not very mobile at all yet, but says he feels a little better each day. Mom is of course getting pooped out, but is glad she can be there to take care of him. Thanks also to those who are helping her out while she runs errands and Dad really appreciated the cards he has received. He goes to the doctor on Tuesday to see how things are going....The 3 of us girls (& handsome husbands) bought him a PlayStation 2 for Father's Day to help him pass the next couple of months!

We also got to see very pregnant Jessica & Hunter. She looked really, really good and Ian is due to arrive pretty much any day. Hunter was so sweet, and ran all the way down the sidewalk to greet us. He's getting so big...I just can't believe it. We also got to see niece Kaitlyn who is also is getting bigger...She too was sweet and was saving a place at the table for us at lunch so we could sit by her...I can't believe they grow so fast.

Thanks again for the thoughts and calls and a HUGE thank you to Ryan & Pam next door who kept Sammy for us.

What do you get.....?

What do you get when you try to hustle through the kitchen with wet, freshly showered feet? Knee surgery on Monday! Think of Dad on Monday....he tried to slide into 2nd on the kitchen floor on Wednesday and (I think) sheered his quad muscle right off his knee cap..Sounds lovely, doesn't it?! So now he's parked on the couch for 6-8 weeks with really nice pain meds. I told him if he wanted more attention for Father's Day, all he had to do was say so! He really didn't have to go to all of this trouble! Good Luck, Dad!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Ok, so I'm a day late, too (so was Tiff). But I did call on the right day!

I obviously need to be better at getting embarrassing pics of mom! I can't find any! Anyway...this one goes allllll they way back to 2002 after my UNI graduation! Don't let people take pictures of you while you're dancing...you come out looking like you need a V8!
