Night Owl

How I long to live like real people....I only got 6 hours of sleep last night, but yet here I sit, unable to actually fall asleep and it's 130am. I think my body has officially and totally adjusted to my schedule and no matter how sleepy I am, it insists I go to sleep when I'm "supposed to". The one good thing, I get some productive things done while "the boys" sleep. Here I sit, listening to iTunes, responding to emails and sorting out my papers for 2006 and seeing what to save, what to shred. Ah, the responsibilities of being an adult.

Day off

Great day off --- Brad took the day off, too. Started my day at 1030 (I worked last night) and went and ate lunch with Shari who packed up her house today (sniff, sniff). By the time we got home it was time for Brad to mow the lawn and me to do whatever it is I do around the house to put things back in their rightful places (organizing, maybe). Then I went to get my hair cut and colored (FINALLY-it's needed it since before the horrible pictures of me at the going away parties!)...For those of you who know Tom, it was a record 72 minutes today! He didn't dry it though because I had to get going for a call to work. Then Bradley and I went to Red Robin for dinner and visited Penney's to pick out some curtains for the bedroom. Bradley spent some time painting the bathroom cabinets today. We figured out what colors to paint the bedroom, which Bradley says he will do on Saturday night while I have some girlfriends over and then out to have drinks and gossip! No whe's cleaning up so it's time for some relaxation and TV. Coming up in the next week, we have Admirals hockey playoffs, my spa party on Saturday and Brad's birthday! Also getting excited for my parents to visit and Tiff and Jarrod to come back for Tiff's graduation on 5/11!

Quadrupled

This week has been reasonably uneventful in the Dellit house....at least it seemed so until I started thinking about it. It started with Tiff and Jarrod leaving on Monday for Georgia...Monday night I got really sick and spent my 2 days off recovering. I took Sammy to the doctor for his last puppy appointment and he has almost quadrupled in size since we got him...he is a whopping 4.2 lbs! We also had the first puppy training class on last Saturday...the first one is without the dog, so that the teacher can start to train the owners! (This was fun since I have to cut my sleep in day short and get out of bed with only 5 hours of sleep after work). Sammy already does well with several of the things he is supposed to learn in this class...so maybe he'll be the star pupil?! He doesn't behave as well when others are around, so we'll see how this Saturday goes....

I have a spur type thing on my heel that is driving me nuts (Lemon Wife) and I went to a podiatrist on Wed and she said it's not a big deal. I have to do some stretching exercises because of how tight my legs are, but just have to go back in 6 weeks....she gave me something to put in my shoe to help out (I think I'm getting old) and we'll see if it works. I guess if I was doing that yoga that I should be doing more of, I wouldn't have the leg tightness problem! (hint, hint).

I think that's all that's been going on 'round here. Oh, Bradley started repainting our master bath - We both decided we would like something else going on in there, so we're changing it. We'll post pics when we eventually get it done...This appears to be a "several days off over a few weeks" type thing...we don't get alot of time together and don't want to always spend it painting!

More Target in Cedar Falls

Apparently Cedar Falls is the place to be these days....quite the up and coming little metropolis. Seems that Target is building another DC there. This one is a food DC...We are opening one in FL in conjunction with Supervalu and that one will be staffed with all Supervalu employees, so we'll see what happens with this one.

Tragedy at Tech

I couldn't believe what I saw when I woke up yesterday about what happened at Tech. I don't personally know anyone who is attending there now, but know many alum and how tight the school is. Several people I work with have friends and family there and as of last night still hadn't heard about some of them. Having been to that campus a few times, it's just scary to think it could happen there. When they say "Hokie Nation" that is no joke. It's like a huge family of people....it's so sad.

I got a little over ambitious with my workout goals and can't quite get it all in at once. So, let's start again - Let's add small things this week and small things next week and work up to those goals!

This week:

Yoga or other class 1x in the next 7 days

20 minutes of cardio 3x in the next 7 days

Last week, we went to some friends' house for a BBQ and Sammy met their 3 dogs and daughter, too. He was very nice to them, even when all the dogs wanted to smell him at once!

Miss you

Today I am looking through a bunch of pictures of Mom Dellit so that I can finish a picture frame I am putting together. Looking through all of these and remembering the great times we had and that she had with others in the family makes me miss her even more than other days. I'd give about anything to have one more of those late night gossip sessions in her kitchen.

Happy 80th Birthday, Grandpa

Yesterday was Grandpa's 80th birthday...I'm a little late with the blog, but I called him yesterday, so I'm still a good granddaughter! This is one of my favorite pictures...It's from last summer...We thought we were far enough away from the water and right when dad snapped the picture, Tiff and I's bare feet got slammed with cold water! I knew dad was a good photographer, but the timing was great on this one!

Shari moved to PA a couple of weeks ago. She was having troubles finding a job in Hampton Roads and found one there. On Saturday she came back for a day and we had a going away party for her. Of course, this was after she and I did some damage at the Willamsburg outlet mall and I bought out Trader Joes!
